Dydh da Jezz, great idea about the uni - you are right, far too much of a brain drain and the economy definately needs boosting. You may not need to campaign though, I think there are plans well under way to create the University of Cornwall, in fact CUC (combined universities in cornwall) already exisits, with campuses being developed. http://www.cuc.ac.uk/about-cuc.htm. I hear that much work is being done to get funding for Cornwall uni to grow and develop further, with other sites being involved too.

This needs planning now, to ensure that the best balance of academic expertise and disciplines are attracted, and that the output of the new Truro University is comprised of deep academic and applied subjects, where possible related to the Cornish economy too, and not "sexy" (eg media related) courses of which there are far too many in UK. It must also be developed either within the framework of the existing CUC, or in conjunction with it to ensure balance and to obviate duplication of any kind. Quite a challenge really.
